Erualdo R. González is a Professor in the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Fullerton, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Irvine. Passionate about cities, people, and justice, his research focuses on community development and participation, gentrification, built and food environments and health, and public policy.

He is intrigued with understanding how and reasons local community development practices and policies are made, implemented, questioned, and associated equity and social justice outcomes, particularly in Mexican, Chicana/o, Latina/o, and immigrant communities and communities of color.

Dr. González's work is also applied, including program evaluation, participatory action research, and strategic planning with healthy communities and community building initiatives across the United States.

Professor González and colleagues from the University of California, Irvine are currently co-editing a volume on gentrification and democratic alternatives, slated for publication in 2020 (Routledge).

Erualdo loves catching movies and TV time with his wife Connie, adores building block skyscrapers and castles, dancing, and walking home from school with his daughter Zenaida Maité. Erualdo is grateful for having routine family time with his parents, brother, aunts/uncles, and cousins and maintaining childhood friendships.
